Hi!

Lucia Marcano here.

Photographer and artichoke lover.

I was born in the city crossed by the Seine, grew up 45 minutes from the Caribbean Sea, had a lot of contact with the banks of the Hudson River, and lived for the most important years in the city where the Manzanares River runs through. I now find myself discovering the energy of the Rhine from Cologne, where I happen to be currently based.

I am the result of the exposure to all those cultures mixed with a pinch of salt. My brain is confused between the languages involved.

I approach photography as a mirror of my curiosity, sort of a vital logbook narrated through images. These come from the need of building a memory not based on facts but in a subjective and distorted gaze. The photographic impulse comes to me as I process emotions I can’t put words to and is often heavily influenced by a stroke of beauty found in the landscape.

Teaching comes very naturally as a response to feeling that whatever knowledge comes to me must be shared with others. I do it regularly online and onsite at the Roberto Mata School of Photography in Miami and occasionally in Madrid.

Working on assignment, I’ve mostly delved into the areas of lifestyle and fashion photography. I’ve worked for different companies in the retail sector, editorial portrait, and also as a contributor to different magazines in Spain.

My favorite assignments have come from Condé Nast Traveler magazine. They combine my photographic enthusiasm for the unexpected with my passion for traveling to new landscapes and documenting interesting people.
